Light-based therapies involve specialised devices that use specific wavelengths and doses of light to influence biological signals associated with eye growth. One of the most studied techniques is repeated low-level red-light therapy, which has shown promising results in some clinical trials in slowing axial elongation and the progression of myopia in children.
This category of treatment is still relatively new, and research is ongoing to evaluate its long-term safety and determine the most effective treatment protocols. It should therefore be used only under the supervision of a qualified specialist, following a comprehensive eye examination and in accordance with the approvals and regulatory requirements applicable in each country.
